I saw a friend at the supermarket yesterday that said he saw my upcoming book up for pre-order on Amazon.
I gave him a prefect “Deer in the headlights” look. Huh?
Run home. Go to Amazon. Yup, there it is. Always nice when a publisher tells you these things in advance (not).
Ok, yes, I’m converting my C# book into VB. No, it’s not easy. There are some decent automatic conversion tools here and here, but they don’t do everything, and you really need to run the tools in baby steps. The Clarity conversion tool (second link) does a nice job, but if there’s a conversion error, I wish it would insert a compilation error. I wound up with a horrible mess this weekend because it didn’t correctly translate the @ string prefix from C#. Of course, in their defense, I must admit the tool entered some nice TODO entries in the task list at that code location. Maybe if I had been using the task list I would have found them J.
